SPONSORED RESIDENTIAL

Sponsored Residential Homes provide skill-building services to individuals with Intellectual Disabilities/Developmental Disabilities just like in a Group Home, however, Sponsored Residential services are provided n a caretaker's (“sponsor’s”) home and limited to a maximum of 2 individuals in care.

The Sponsor is evaluated, trained, supported, and supervised by a Provider Agency that follows the rules for licensing by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).

Skill-building and support are provided in order to help the individual meet his or her medical, dietary, behavioral, personal care, and daily living needs. Skill-building and support are also provided to build independence and to promote involvement in the home and in the community.

 Robnel Sponsored Home

Where Compassion Meets Excellence

Nestled in the well-established Salem Fields neighborhood of the 22407-zip code area of Fredericksburg, VA (within Spotsylvania County), the Robnel home is a spacious, three-story single-family residence offering both a warm, home-like atmosphere and an environment designed for growth, independence, and connection. The home features five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms.

On arrival, residents are greeted by a charming front porch—perfect for two comfortable rocking chairs where they can relax, chat, enjoy the morning air, or watch the world go by. In the backyard, there’s ample space for gathering around a fire pit under the stars, creating moments of warmth and community. A dedicated garden area invites residents to plant and tend seasonal blooms or vegetables, offering both physical and sensory engagement. Just off the main living space is a deck complete with a grill—ideal for shared cookouts, staff-resident barbecues, birthday celebrations, holiday events, or simply enjoying a quiet evening outdoors. With plenty of room to roam, the house and yard combine comfort, outgoing space and homelike features.

Inside, the home offers an open and inviting floor plan which enables residents to move easily and comfortably from one area to another. There is space for communal living, individual reflection, and social interaction. Whether it’s gathering in the living-room, relaxing in a quiet corner, or heading outside for fresh air, the layout supports both independence and connection.

  • In this home, the two lucky individuals will benefit from a genuinely caring, person-centered environment:
    Attentive, caring staff
will be present, ensuring each resident’s individual needs are met with dignity, sensitivity and warmth. They’ll promote a home-like atmosphere—not an institutional one—supporting daily routines, encouraging choices, and honoring each person’s preferences and rhythms.
  • Independence and growth are central. While staff are there for support, the aim is to stretch potential—through volunteer opportunities, community programs of interest, part-time employment (if desired), outings, and full participation in the life of the home and neighborhood.
  • Celebrations and community are built‐in. Birthdays, holidays, vacations and special events will be celebrated together with staff and peers. The front porch, backyard fire pit and deck space become venues for laughter, connection, and shared experiences.
  • Safe, home‐friendly environment. With amenities like the deck, garden, grill, and fire-pit, residents will have meaningful outdoor time. The setting encourages sensory experiences, meaningful tasks (e.g., gardening), social gatherings, and the comfort of “just being home.”
  • Choice and respect. Our promise is to support choice—what to do, where to go, how to engage—and respect for each resident’s dignity and capacity. The community and the home are set up to provide opportunities, not limitations.
